E-Qoo2 - Esperanzas end-of-the-year statement

Dear E-Qoo2 members,
Now that the end is near - umm... the end of the year of course ;) - we're supposed to reflect on what happened in the past year. And who am I to go against the flow... hah! So I'm going to bore you with an end-of-the-year statement.
The past year has been quite tumultuous. We've seen well reputed program owners do a totally unexpected runner, we've seen quite a few less reputed program owners do a more or less expected runner, we even see one runner owner who is still around and is openly mocking the members whose money he stole (remember big-mouth locotime who knew everything and would show us how a program should be ran?).
Especially in hard times like these it takes a lot more to run a good program than logging into an admin panel each day and process a few member redemptions. The learning curve for PO's - that is, the ones who are willing to learn - is steep and a program simply will not survive at this time unless you know what you're doing.
Having said that, we do have a few owners who started out this year and who know exactly what they are doing, for example Jennifer of CastlesGold.com and Kelly of Mysticskingdom.info. So it's not all bad pennies that turn up (or return) as PTR program owners :)
As for E-Qoo2, the program is still sound but profit margins have become extremely small. So in the next weeks I will review several issues to keep the program sound in 2010.
Tiers crediting, especially for the lower tiers, will be reviewed. I'm sorry to say it but until lower tiers are able - as they can not always purchase or join - and willing to support our advertisers, the current crediting of tier 3 and 4 hits is simply not cost effective. There may also be some changes in which country goes in which tier.
What also will change is the way I charge for upgrades that are bought through payment processors. Until now I covered processor fees myself but in the new year they will be added to the purchase price. The upgrades themselves will be reviewed too, for instance existing upgraded members will get the option to replace 1/4 cent ads with 1/10th cent ads.
At this time I'm not yet considering charging a fee on payouts to cover the 2% masspay fee.
There will also be some general program maintenance, so please be prepared for some pages being offline occasionally.
Finally I want to thank Suellen for the great way she manages E-Qoo2. Because of personal issues I haven't been as much around and as active and hands-on as I should have been during the past months but she manages the program meticulously and probably does a better job than I would.
Also I want to thank all of you for being great members. A program is as good as its members and its staff combined and E-Qoo2 wouldn't be worth a second look without all of you.
